Our Training Programs

ABC Eastern Pa has offered registered apprenticeship and craft training since 1967. All of our programs are fully approved, and registered, with both the State ofPennsylvania and the US DOL.

Registered Apprentice

Our apprenticeship programs must provide classroom, hands-on lab exercises, and on-the-job learning (OJL). When a registered apprentice successfully completes the required classroom training, and on-the-Job learning hours, he/she becomes a Journeyperson in his/her trade. Because of the knowledge and abilities their training has provided, they are entitled to a higher pay-rate. Also, while enrolled in a registered apprenticeship program, employees are mandated to receive scheduled pay rate increases as their training progresses.

Craft Training

At ABC Eastern Pa. we refer to students who are enrolled in training, but are not registered apprentices, as “Craft Trainees”. Craft trainees may be self-employed, looking for employment, or sent by an employer who does not wish to register them as apprentices. A Craft Trainee who later becomes an Apprentice will receive full credit for his/her completed training, and may be able to receive OJL credit for work experience. Students who are not sponsored by an employer are referred to as “Self-students”.

Standard Daytime Program

Evening Hybrid Program
Classes meet one evening a week, from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. for three weeks per month. On the fourth week, no evening class is scheduled, but class meets on Saturday from 7:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Safety

Safety is a top priority for the ABC Eastern Pa Chapter Apprenticeship Trust. All of our instructors are OSHA trained and incorporate safe work practices in both classroom training and hands-on exercises. Students are required to bring OSHA - compliant  hard-hats and safety glasses to every class. All hands-on projects are evaluated equally on quality of work, and safe work practices used in completion of the project. Click Here to learn more about ABC's dedication to safety.
